Good Enough Anchors

Learn to spot the good from the bad, and what is important in your system. In this clinic, Marcus will talk and explain basic anchors system, what really matters in building anchors, and keeping a team secure on climbs. This clinic focuses on the simplicity of anchors and helps  answer questions about the use of different anchor setups. Whether you are a new or intermediate climber, you will walk away with a better understanding of anchors. Skills covered: Anchoring the team to the wall, loads on the anchor, protecting the climber, protecting fixed anchors, basic top rope set up, basic sport climbing anchors.

Prerequisite: Some climbing experience.

Max Participants: 10

Required Gear: Harness, Belay device, Pen & Paper

Optional Gear: 220 CM sling, cordelette, 4 locking carabiners, 4 non-locking carabiners, prusiks

About the Instructor

Marcus has over 25 years of  all-around climbing, and has established over 200 new routes, including everything from traditional, sport, Clean aid first ascents and mixed climbing to big walls and desert towers. However, his biggest accomplishment and legacy is not how hard he can push himself, but what he passes on to the next generation of climbers as a coach and mentor. As lead coach for youth Team USA Ice Climbing, Marcus is helping develop the next generation of Olympic Caliber athletes.
