Better Crack Climbing

Understanding how to ascend various cracks leads to more adventure in the climbing world. Crack climbing is one of the most important skills need to take on many of the world classic traditional routes. This clinic focuses on the body, foot and hand position to tackle all sizes of cracks efficiently.

Prerequisite: Basic Rock Climbing Skills

Location Requirement: If you haven’t previously climbed at Planet Granite, you will need to fill out their liability waiver and watch a short video. You can do this entire process ahead of time by going here. This process takes about 15 minutes. We highly recommend doing this before the clinic.

Required Gear: shoes, harness, tape, chalk bag

Clothing: long sleeves, long pants.

About the Instructor

Jeff Shapiro is a professional climber and pilot who has devoted his life to the mountains. Whether climbing on rock, ice, or flying above them,  he strives for “full value adventure and self exploration.” Over the 30 years of his climbing related life, he finds the greatest rewards in focusing earned skill-sets towards attempting new routes in the greater ranges. A new route on the NW face of Ri Wu Qie Feng in the Daxue Shan range of western China and, the first ascent of the south face of Brammah II in the Kashmir Himalaya are two recent highlights.
